Earl’s Provisions Shop is looking for a Café & Counter Associate to join our team.
Located next door to Earl’s Premier in Brookside, the shop offers espresso, grab-and-go bites, and thoughtfully prepared provisions for the neighborhood. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with food, coffee, and guests in a fast-paced, hospitality-driven environment.
Position Summary
The Café & Counter Associate plays an important role in the daily operations of the Provisions Shop by supporting food preparation, packaging, and guest-facing counter service. This position helps ensure products are prepared, presented, and served with consistency and care while delivering a warm, welcoming experience for every guest.
This is a hands-on role suited for someone who enjoys working both behind the counter and in food preparation, with a strong focus on hospitality, product quality, and attention to detail.
Core Responsibilities:
Food Prep & Product Execution
- Assist with daily food prep, portioning, and packaging of provisions and grab-and-go offerings
- Ensure products are prepared, labeled, and displayed according to shop standards
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep, storage, and service areas
- Monitor product freshness, quality, and presentation throughout the day
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling practices
Counter Service & Guest Experience
- Provide friendly, knowledgeable service to guests at the counter
- Help guests with selections, questions, and product recommendations
- Operate POS and handle transactions accurately
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked service and display areas
- Support efficient service flow during busy periods
Beverage, Barista & Product Knowledge
- Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, espresso drinks, coffee beverages, and other menu items according to established standards.
- Demonstrate knowledge of cocktail preparations, spirits, wine, coffee, espresso drinks, food offerings, and Provisions products.
- Maintain familiarity with ingredients, preparation methods, allergens, and dietary considerations in order to confidently guide guests.
- Provide thoughtful food, beverage, coffee, and retail/product recommendations.
- Ensure all beverage execution, recipes, prep, presentation, and product quality meet company standards.
- Maintain consistency, cleanliness, and organization in all bar, coffee, and service areas.
Safe Service & Compliance
- Uphold all health, sanitation, and food safety standards in accordance with local and state health codes.
- Follow proper food handling, storage, labeling, and sanitation practices.
- Demonstrate awareness of food allergens and dietary restrictions, communicating clearly with guests and the kitchen to ensure safe service.
- Follow all responsible alcohol service practices and applicable alcohol service laws, including verifying guest age and monitoring guest intoxication.
- Maintain safe and responsible service practices that prioritize the wellbeing of guests and staff.
Daily Operations & Team Support
- Assist with opening and closing responsibilities as assigned
- Help maintain organization and cleanliness throughout the shop during and after service
- Communicate product needs or operational issues to management
- Support a positive, collaborative team environment
- Perform additional responsibilities and other duties as assigned to support team objectives and daily operations
Qualifications
- Previous experience in café, food service, market, or quick-service environments preferred
- Experience with counter service, barista work, or food preparation is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Friendly, guest-focused communication style
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable standing/walking for 8+ hours, and be able to bend, push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs.
