About the role
-
We are seeking a Cloud Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement secure, scalable cloud-native solutions supporting mission-critical systems. The ideal candidate will have experience building modern cloud architectures, developing distributed applications, and automating cloud infrastructure within a collaborative engineering environment.
What you'll do
-
Design and implement resilient, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud-native architectures.

Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices using Java (Spring Boot) or Python.

Build, deploy, and manage containerized applications using Docker, with a focus on security, performance, and optimization.
-
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to automate cloud resource provisioning and management.
-
Develop interactive dashboards and data visualization tools using modern frameworks such as React or Solid.

Design and manage Kubernetes-based environments, including deployments, ingress controllers, service meshes, and stateful workloads.
-
Develop and maintain distributed data pipelines for high-volume data ingestion, processing, and storage.
-
Support CI/CD automation, testing strategies, and system reliability efforts.

Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize production environments.
-
Collaborate with data architects, DevOps teams, and product managers to deliver mission-focused solutions.

Create technical documentation for architecture, deployment workflows, and operational procedures.
Qualifications
-
U.S. Citizenship with an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.

5+ years of software engineering or cloud development experience.
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field highly desired.

A Bachelor’s degree may substitute for two years of experience.

Experience developing software solutions using Java (Spring Boot) or Python.
-
Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
-
Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices architectures, and web application frameworks.

Experience designing and supporting data processing pipelines.
-
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Must possess one of the following certifications:

AWS Certified Developer – Associate

AWS DevOps Engineer – Professional

Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)

Elastic Certified Engineer

Strong understanding of Kubernetes architecture, including Pods, Services, Namespaces, resource management, Operators, and Custom Resource Definitions (CRDs).

Experience with distributed streaming platforms such as Kafka and graph databases such as Neo4j.

Experience with cloud monitoring and observability tools including Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK Stack.

Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.

Experience with Apache Spark or other big data processing frameworks.

Experience building and operating highly available, distributed cloud environments.
-
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and DevOps best practices.
The pay range for this role is:
200,000 - 215,000 USD per year(Annapolis Junction, MD)
