Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Service Technician specializing in Power Generation equipment to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing on-site technical support, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs for power generation systems, including diesel generators and related mechanical and electrical components. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands-on experience with diesel engines, electrical diagnostics, and equipment repair, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of our power solutions. Duties
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on power generation equipment, including diesel engines and generators.
- Diagnose complex electrical and mechanical issues using schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools.
- Conduct repairs on engines, electrical systems, mechanical components, and associated equipment utilizing hand tools, power tools, welding, soldering, and other specialized techniques.
- Execute heavy lifting tasks safely while handling large components or machinery during installation or repair procedures.
- Maintain detailed service records documenting work performed, parts used, and diagnostic findings for each service call.
- Collaborate with customers to identify needs, explain repair procedures, and ensure satisfaction through excellent customer service.
- Support sales efforts by providing technical expertise during equipment evaluations or upgrades when necessary.
- Follow safety protocols rigorously to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
- Assist in training junior technicians or apprentices to promote skill development within the team.
Skills
- Proven dealership experience coupled with service technician expertise in power generation or heavy machinery.
- Extensive knowledge of schematics interpretation for electrical diagnostics and mechanical systems repair.
- Strong background in diesel engine repair, generator maintenance, and automotive repair principles.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and manual handling procedures.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems including wiring diagrams and electrical diagnostics.
- Mechanical knowledge encompassing engine repair, mechanical systems troubleshooting, and equipment repair.
- Experience with Caterpillar or similar heavy machinery brands is highly desirable.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining physical stamina for demanding tasks.
- Familiarity with vehicle maintenance practices relevant to service vehicles used in field operations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a minimum two-year technical program focused on diesel engines or power generation systems.
- Minimum of three years of relevant industry experience.
- Minimum of five years of hands-on experience repairing diesel engines, generators, and industrial equipment.
