Position Summary: The Senior CNC Mill Set Up Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating any job, new or repeat, on CNC mills to achieve defect-free results within estimated timeframes. Utilizing shop equipment, this role focuses on delivering tasks punctually to meet both external and internal customer expectations. The Senior CNC Mill Set Up Machinist plays a crucial part in complying with company procedures, machining complex parts, collaborating with the programming department, and mentoring less experienced personnel.

- Comply with and support all company procedures, including CNC programming naming conventions, standardized tool list templates, and defect reporting.
- Machine complex parts in various materials using a variety of machine tools, adjusting speeds, feeds, and tooling as needed.
- Set up and produce parts on any CNC mill without assistance from programming, completing setups and production runs within estimated time.
- Collaborate with the programming department to set up and prove out new programs on any CNC mill, ensuring error-free and robust processes.
- Demonstrate expertise in CNC control, including advanced features like Macro’s.
- Display thorough knowledge of fixture & work holding design and manufacturing using MDI or manual machines.
- Demonstrate expertise in cutting tool selection and work holding methods.
- Efficiently edit G code at the machine control while adhering to company procedures for CNC program editing and saving.
- Inspect parts to customer print tolerances of .0001” using geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Troubleshoot technical problems at the machine and resolve them promptly.
- Accurately estimate job and task completion times to aid scheduling.
- Mentor less experienced personnel and share knowledge.
- Collect accurate data for jobs, record time, including cycle times.
- Ensure accurate part counts, maintain a clean work area, and adhere to safety regulations.
- Maintain security and confidentiality of customer products and documents.
- Adhere to company policies, corporate and departmental, and meet teamwork and behavior standards.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement activities and align with company core values.
- Maintain punctuality and attendance standards, starting and ending breaks on time.

Education/Experience:
· High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three-five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
· Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Mathematical Ability:
· Work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
