Will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check in addition to a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office background check prior to appointment.
THIS IS AN AT-WILL POSITION.
Palm Beach County’s Facilities Development & Operations Department seeks a Facilities Manager to direct the efficient operation, maintenance, security, and appearance of assigned County-owned properties that support County government operations and services, Constitutional Offices (e.g., Property Appraiser, Tax Collector, Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller, Sheriff, Supervisor of Elections, etc.), and the Health Department within its significant portfolio. Develops, manages, and monitors operating and capital budgets; supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff and contractors; coordinates and implements essential policies, procedures, and service agreements; monitors workload, productivity, and service delivery; conducts building assessments to recommend critical maintenance, capital projects, and emergency responses. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of the Facilities Management Division and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and evaluations of results obtained.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities/Property Management, Engineering, or related field; minimum of five (5) years of experience in facilities or property management, which includes two (2) years of experience in managing the work of maintenance, custodial, and service contractors,
OR
- An unrelated Bachelor’s Degree; minimum of six (6) years of experience in facilities or property management, which includes two (2) years of experience in managing the work of maintenance, custodial, and service contractors,
OR
- An Associate’s Degree in in Facilities/Property Management, Engineering, or related field; minimum of seven (7) years of experience in facilities or property management, which includes two (2) years of experience in managing the work of maintenance, custodial, and service contractors,
OR
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of nine (9) years of experience in facilities or property management, which includes two (2) years of experience in managing the work of maintenance, custodial, and service contractors.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience using computerized management systems (must specify on application),
- Experience in facilities/space planning or architecture development,
- Journey-level skills in building maintenance/electrical or air conditioning,
- Certification from Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA)/International Facility Management Association (IFMA)/Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) or Association of Physical Plant Administrators (APPA),
- Experience with preparing budgets, contract administration, or procurement,
- Experience managing a large geographically dispersed facilities portfolio, and
- Experience supervising various trades including Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and electrical.
