This position serves as a member of the Admissions recruitment team, coordinating transfer student recruitment for assigned geographic area(s) and targeted populations and managing a recruitment territory to assist in achieving enrollment goals for Cleveland State University. Duties include communicating daily and building relationships with prospective students and families and high school and community college counselors, managing selected correspondence, planning and executing on- and off-campus programs, representing the University at college fairs and community events, and managing a travel schedule. Interprets and informs prospective students and parents on University admissions policies and procedures. Maintains records and prepares and hoc and periodic reports as required. Works a flexible schedule including travel off-campus, evening and weekends. Interacts professionally with all internal and external customers using strong interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Two (2) years of experience in one or more of the following areas: college or university admissions recruitment, community college administration, college admissions/counseling at high school or college level, territory and prospect management, marketing, sales, public relations, or related experience.
- Prior experience with public speaking.
- Ability to travel frequently and to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to establish driver eligibility under the University’s Motor Vehicle Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree, preferably in higher education, business, communications, or related field or two years of related professional work experience beyond the bachelor’s degree.
- Experience as an admissions counselor/recruiter at a public research institution.
- Experience working with community college or transfer students.
- Experience using social media and network communications.
- Experience using customer management relations software.
- Experience working with all student populations, which may include low-income, first generation, geographic regions, ethnic groups, high school and non-traditional students.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience using customer management relations software.
- Decision-making and effective organization of time and tasks.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
