Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Reading and Math Tutor for grades K-8th grade to inspire and support students in developing essential literacy and numeracy skills. Retired certified teachers, degreed individuals, and students with at least two years of college are welcome to apply.
Duties
- Deliver engaging tutoring sessions focused on reading comprehension, literacy development, and mathematics skills for students of different ages and backgrounds
- Develop and implement customized lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and individual learning goals
- Utilize learning technology tools to enhance instruction and facilitate interactive learning experiences
- Assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and adjusting teaching strategies accordingly
- Foster an inclusive classroom environment that respects diverse cultural backgrounds and learning styles
- Maintain detailed records of student attendance, progress, and instructional activities to ensure continuous improvement
Skills
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development for reading, writing, and mathematics
- Proficiency with learning technology platforms and online instruction tools
- Excellent tutoring skills with the ability to adapt lessons to various learning styles and needs
- Experience teaching English language arts, science, or math at different educational levels
- Ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and with special education requirements
- Strong communication skills for clear instruction and positive student engagement
- Classroom management experience combined with patience and enthusiasm for working with children and adults alike
- Demonstrated ability to plan lessons, assess student progress, and modify instructional approaches as needed
