Large Press Set-Up Operator II

What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Large Press Set-Up Operator III, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring high-quality stamped parts are produced safely, efficiently, and to customer specifications. You’ll bring expert-level press setup knowledge, mentor junior operators, and collaborate closely with production, toolroom, and maintenance teams to support on-time delivery and continuous improvement.
A Day in the Life:
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, job routings, and work instructions
- Expertly set up and operate large presses to achieve quality parts and maximum production efficiency
- Set up all types of complex tooling, including draws, forms, and progressive dies
- Stage all required materials so production can begin without delay
- Use dispatch displays to determine job priorities and next setups
- Conduct root cause analysis on die or press issues and coordinate with toolroom and maintenance for repairs
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety
- Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures
- Inspect materials and finished parts for defects and verify compliance with specifications
- Identify and label materials accurately using tags or labels
- Perform routine mechanical maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area
- Train and mentor Level I and II Set-Up Operators
- Capture and document work instructions to ensure consistent setups and production runs
- Accurately enter production and quality data into the company data collection system
- Follow all established safety procedures and compliance guidelines
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- 3+ years of experience in metal fabrication or related work
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to see and hear with vision including close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment
- Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the shift
- Frequent use of hands for handling, reaching, and operating equipment
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and maintain focus during long shifts
- Ability to regularly lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
