PROCESS STAFF ENGINEER
Reports to: Process General Manager
Location: Dalton, GA
Classification: Salary (Exempt)
Grade: G3
SUMMARY
The Process Staff Engineer must provide direction, guidance, and support to all the shift and day Process Technicians and Engineers. The Manager, Process Improvement Engineer will apply continuous improvement methodology to enhance plant operations, supporting the specific plant goals in operational effectiveness (OE), job effectiveness (JE), safety and quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the development and implementation of methods for sampling, inspection, testing and evaluation of products.

Initiates process improvement projects to increase efficiency, reduce costs, improve quality and defect analysis.

Acquisition of knowledge and understanding for both Front and back-end processes.

Collaboration with other teams and come up with the goal and improvement plans.

Execute all required duties while practicing safe work methods and adhering to all plant safety rules.

Be the driver in investigating, proposing, procuring and launching new process and operations improvements (flexible automation and manual equipment) by developing specific metrics and conducting necessary audits.

Assist development of technical training plan for process engineering and continuous improvement methodology (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.).

Develop troubleshooting guides for maintenance and operations personnel for line use. Train and deploy these in the plant.

Actively participate with the EHS team to lead projects that improve worker safety and minimize incident risk.

Function as a change agent and systematically drive and implement change through cross-functional efforts between the safety, manufacturing, and quality resource.

Develop engineering documentation: PFMEA, Control Plans, Work Instructions, etc.

Develop and maintain regular reports consistent with departmental needs to track progress and drive action on plant improvements.

Support skill-up of engineer level with mentoring and helping engineering qualification.

Arrangement of process tasks for team members and team’s goal.

Adhere to the policies and procedures of Hanwha Q CELLS USA, Inc.

Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by management.

A bachelor’s degree in engineering or related fields
-
Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing industry
-
Minimum of 10 years of experience in Process Improvement
-
Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical approach
-
Knowledge and understanding of all federal and state safety standards
-
Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees

Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements
-
Strong proficiency in using ERP/MES systems
-
Strong proficiency in using and reporting with software including MS Office Suites.

Knowledge of Quality Control techniques, SPC, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S and change management techniques.

Proven project management ability with concurrent project assignments

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Able to stand and walk the production area throughout the workday

Able to lift to 50 pounds without restriction

Reaching, pushing, pulling, or lifting as required within limits set by Q Cells

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

Lean/Six Sigma certification

Documented supervisory training and extensive experience as process manager

Prior administrative experience with a multi-million dollar budget

Experience in high tech or solar manufacturing industry and startups
