We take pride in maintaining a well‑serviced fleet and creating a supportive. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The Mechanic is responsible for performing inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on school buses and fleet vehicles. This role ensures our buses operate safely and efficiently every day. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, safety‑driven, and experienced with diesel and gasoline engines.
Duties
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on fleet of school
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts, suspension, and wheel alignments.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, hydraulics, HVAC systems, and transmissions.
- Fabricate parts or modifications as needed using welding, hand tools, power tools, and soldering techniques.
- Repair or replace components on vehicle engines (diesel engines), powertrains, air brakes, and other mechanical systems.
- Operate heavy equipment safely during testing or troubleshooting procedures.
- Maintain detailed service records and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment operation and repair.
- Strong mechanical knowledge across various systems including hydraulics, transmissions, suspensions, HVAC systems, and diesel engines.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for diagnostics and repairs.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other maintenance tools effectively.
- Experience with automotive diagnostics, tire service, brake repair, wheel alignment, shocks & struts replacement.
- Knowledge of fabrication techniques for custom parts or modifications.
- Ability to lift heavy components safely during repairs; physical strength is essential.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license. Must have or be able to obtain commercial license A or B Class with Passenger and School Endorsements. We will train for any License upgrades.
- Strong safety awareness with adherence to industry standards during all repair activities. Pay: $28.10 - $33.84 per hour
