Kumon South Philadelphia is seeking a highly motivated, dependable, and academically strong Advanced Math & Reading Assistant to join our growing team. This position is ideal for individuals who excel in advanced mathematics and critical reading and are passionate about helping students develop confidence, independence, and strong academic foundations through the Kumon Method.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required.
- Completion of college-level coursework preferred, particularly in Mathematics, Education, English, Literature, Science, Engineering, or related fields.
- Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Previous experience with the Kumon Method as a student or assistant strongly preferred.
- Experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, grading, or supporting students in an educational setting.
- Strong proficiency in advanced mathematics, including Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, AP-level mathematics, or college-level coursework.
- Strong reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, literary analysis, and academic writing skills.
- Ability to support students working in advanced Kumon Reading and Math levels.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when grading student work.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Friendly, patient, professional, and committed to student success.
Key Responsibilities
- Grade and review advanced Kumon Math and Reading worksheets with accuracy and consistency.
- Support students working in upper-level mathematics and advanced reading comprehension while adhering to the Kumon Method.
- Assist students in developing critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and independent learning skills.
- Monitor student progress and communicate observations and recommendations to the Instructor.
- Help maintain a productive, organized, and encouraging learning environment.
- Provide exceptional hospitality and customer service to students and families.
- Cross-train in multiple center functions, including grading, student support, front desk assistance, and administrative tasks.
- Support daily center operations and perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Availability
- Tuesday: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Wednesday: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Friday: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM
