Areas of Focus
Manage projects for new plant processes particularly those projects involving equipment development and fabrication for purposes of automating existing processes or replacing them with new technology.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the application of lean manufacturing principles in operations including process layouts, assembly equipment, process flow, and any interfacing with the Maintenance department for physical plant resource issues
- Works with operations, maintenance, and quality to identify continuous improvement and cost reduction activities
- Manages and oversees activities related to fixtures and tooling
- Designs tooling, jigs, and fixtures for production equipment
- Tooling aspects of new product introduction, working with design engineering and production to ensure products transitioned easily to production
- Recommends design changes or alternatives to assist with manufacturing
- Selects and manages suppliers for tools, design services, and/or build services
- Directs and manages activities associated with industrial engineering
- Optimizes plant layout thru lean methodology
- Maintains and improve all critical Manufacturing Engineering documentation such as: Process flow diagram, pFMEA, Control Plan, Work Instructions, Job element sheets, Develop standard operation sheets.
- Development of world class of new and existing manufacturing workstations
- Evaluates, selects, implements, and optimizes equipment
- Plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with design, modification, and maintenance of equipment and machinery
- Recommends, documents, and implements functional manufacturing processes regarding new and existing products
- Provides technical expertise and leadership to ensure that shop floor problems are resolved based on sound engineering concepts
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements for emissions and other environmental concerns
- Troubleshoots productivity, quality, and parts issues in manufacturing, determining root cause, correcting problems, and instituting processes to prevent the same (or similar) issues from recurring
- Ensures that processes and procedures are documented and current
- Implements and/or monitors process improvement efforts pertaining to plant layout, work methods, and equipment
- Documents and advises on proper routing within the manufacturing process
- Capital projects
- Drives "make versus buy" decision making processes in new production introduction projects
- Participates in the evaluation of proposed and existing designs and processes for manufacturability with associated recommendations for improvements
- Analyzes product or equipment specification and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods
- Prepares capital requests for equipment within projects assigned
- Develops and manages timelines to keep capital projects on time and within budget
- Supports manufacturing engineering projects requiring development of specifications, supplier management, purchase, installation, and qualification of manufacturing equipment
- Participates in vendor qualification and ongoing vendor fitness assessments
- Acts as liaison between suppliers and new equipment installations
- Directs or coordinates the work of designers, technicians, operators, and others who assist in specific assignments; normally would be considered the local expert for one or more specific project(s) or product(s)
- Participates in the development and execution of equipment installation and operational qualifications
- Participates in the development and execution of process validations
- Independently evaluates problems or opportunities, initiates required activities, identifies solutions, and applies standard engineering analysis tools to evaluate and select solutions
- Routine correspondence within scope of duties
- Recommending and drafting new policies and procedures
- Scheduling the activities of projects and individuals as they relate to projects
- Equipment selection, installation schedules, quotation solicitation, and vendor selections

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or another technical field
- 10+ years manufacturing experience
- Track record of successfully working within and across functional teams, driving change, and implementing new processes to significantly improve process efficiencies in manufacturing
- Lean manufacturing/Six Sigma experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or technical field
- 12 – 15 years manufacturing experience
- Battery Industry experience
- Black Belt/Six Sigma Certification
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
