Salary Range: $78,000 - $85,000 per year + Bonus
About the Role:
The General Manager is the heartbeat of Apollo Bagels. You're the one making sure everything runs smoothly, from keeping the energy up and the food on point to making sure the store is clean and the team feels good. You're hands-on, present, and always working with your crew to create the best possible experience for guests and staff alike.
This role requires being present five days a week, 6 AM to 3 PM, with weekends being a must, along with being on-call to support the team when you’re not in store.
What you'll be doing:
Store Operations:
- Oversee the daily flow across front of house, back of house, and baking, making sure everyone's in sync and knows what they're doing
- Make sure every bagel, sandwich, and beverage is made right. Every bagel counts, every customer counts
- Stay on top of food safety: check temps, ensure gloves are used and food is stored properly
- Build and adjust weekly schedules based on store needs and sales data
- Be present for the busiest shifts (mornings, weekends, holidays) and train your AGM to be GM-ready
People and Culture:
- Hire kind, hard-working people. Train them well, and keep them motivated and growing
- Check in regularly with the team and conduct honest performance reviews
- Lead with respect and fairness, and address anything that doesn't feel right, including harassment, discrimination, or bullying
- Recognize great work and support team growth into future leaders
Customer Experience:
- Set the tone for how we treat guests: warm, quick, and respectful
- Build real relationships with regulars, remembering names and favorite orders
- Get creative with ways to connect with the neighborhood and spread the word locally
Financials:
- Own the numbers: sales, labor, COGS, and waste
- Manage inventory and ordering so we're stocked without overdoing it
- Keep cash handling tight and make sure payroll and timesheets are reviewed weekly
Compliance and Facilities:
- Stay current on permits, labor rules, and DOH standards
- Handle equipment issues early and keep good relationships with vendors
- Manage onboarding and offboarding for the team
What qualifications you'll bring:
- 2+ years of experience managing a high-volume restaurant, cafe, or QSR location
- Proven ability to lead, train, and develop a team
- Comfortable managing P&L, scheduling, and inventory
- Food safety certification, or willingness to obtain one
- Available for early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
