The Distribution Center Lead is a hands-on process expert responsible for training associates, supporting workflow execution, and ensuring adherence to standard work. The Lead provides real-time guidance on processes and quality expectations, troubleshoot issues, and helps reinforce operational excellence. This role does not directly manage associates but is essential in driving accuracy, efficiency, safety, and throughput within the department.
What you'll do
Train new and existing associates on departmental processes, SOPs, documentation requirements and equipment use.
Reinforce standard operating procedures through on the floor coaching and daily workflow support.
Maintain accurate and up to date documentation and support competency checks.
Serve as the process expert for assigned functions (picking, packing, replenishment, QC, inventory, ecommerce, etc.).
Assist with workflow execution, troubleshooting, and quality checks.
Communicate issues, delays, operational trends, accuracy risks, and daily process updates to the Supervisor in real time to support continuous improvement.
Support cross-department tasks as needed.
Monitor quality standards and support associates in maintaining accuracy.
Uphold a safe, organized, and clean work environment.
Promote safe equipment usage and reinforce compliance with safety practices.
Help lead daily team huddles with Supervisors by sharing process reminders or quality topics.
Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and teamwork at all times.
Who you are
Be a TPS brand ambassador
Strong knowledge of warehouse or distribution processes within the assigned area.
Demonstrated expertise in standard work, quality expectations, and process flow.
Ability to train others clearly and effectively.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft 365, WMS experience preferred).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 100 lbs, climb ladders, and stand/walk up to 6 consecutive hours.
Experience with material handling equipment preferred (forklift, pallet jacks, lifts).
Flexibility to work varied shifts, weekends, and extended hours during seasonal peaks.
