Maintenance Technician

Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving plant equipment, utilities, and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This hands-on role supports production by performing preventive and corrective maintenance, managing spare parts inventory, coordinating maintenance activities, and assisting with facility improvement projects. The Maintenance Technician must work closely with production personnel to minimize downtime while maintaining compliance with all safety and environmental requirements.
Essential Functions
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment including air compressors, pumps, mixers, conveyors, water treatment systems, machine tools, and other production equipment.
- Diagnose and repair industrial automation systems, including PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, motors, drives, and control systems.
- Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and minimize production downtime.
- Develop, maintain, and execute preventive maintenance schedules in coordination with production requirements.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance situations in a timely manner.
- Perform general facility maintenance and repairs including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, welding, fabrication, painting, and building upkeep.
- Install, modify, and improve equipment and systems to support operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, equipment histories, and spare parts inventories.
- Create and manage purchase requisitions for maintenance-related parts, materials, and outside services.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors as needed to support maintenance and facility projects.
- Maintain inventory levels of critical spare parts and consumables to support uninterrupted plant operations.
- Support equipment installations, commissioning, and startup activities.
- Work around production schedules and operational priorities to minimize disruptions and maximize uptime.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for equipment failures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Safety & Compliance Responsibilities
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Be thoroughly familiar with and adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hazard Communication, Electrical Safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Confined Space Entry, and other applicable safety programs.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with OSHA, EPA, local, state, and federal regulations.
- Participate in safety audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Report unsafe conditions, equipment deficiencies, and environmental concerns promptly.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and operating industrial manufacturing or process equipment.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing automated equipment and PLC-controlled systems.
- Welding and basic fabrication experience.
- Experience in one or more of the following trades:
- Electrical
- Plumbing
- Mechanical Maintenance
- Fabrication
- Millwright
- Rigging
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical work in an industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in chemical manufacturing, industrial processing, or related manufacturing environments. Packageing line a plus.
- PLC programming and diagnostics experience.
- Knowledge of VFDs, motors, control circuits, and industrial automation systems.
- Understanding of preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Knowledge of spare parts management and maintenance inventory control.
- Electrical, welding, HVAC, or mechanical certifications.
- Forklift, aerial lift, or other industrial equipment certifications.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing and warehouse environment with exposure to moving machinery, chemicals, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Required use of personal protective equipment.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or respond to emergency maintenance situations as needed.

Pay: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour
