General Purpose:
Senior Piping Designers provides advanced 3D modeling, drawing development, and technical oversight. This position supports the full project lifecycle, from conceptual layout through shop drawing release, ensuring constructible and fabrication-ready deliverables that align with MTS standards for safety, quality, and efficiency. Sr. Designers may individually contribute to a project or may be asked to lead a team of designers on a project basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop, check, and manage 3D CAD models of industrial systems and facilities.

Prepare and check piping/process deliverables (isometrics, orthographic plans/elevations, P&IDs, spool drawings, etc.) consistent with MTS release workflows.

Generate and maintain BOMs and material reports to support the field and shop fabrication packages.

Perform clash checks using Navisworks Manage, documenting and resolving design conflicts.

Effectively translate Piping and Instrumentation Drawings into a 3D Model.

Incorporate site data captured via point clouds or site measurements and feedback.

Effective cross-discipline and cross-department communication and coordination.

Advise on design principles and standards.

Work on multiple projects on a continuous basis.

Conduct field walkdowns and as-built verification.

Monitor and report weekly on the status of current design projects.

Communicates technical information effectively with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.

Effectively communicate and project the principles of the Talent Advantaged Roadmap.

Perform other duties as assigned by manager/supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Vocational training, Associate's degree, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- 10 years minimum of relevant design experience. Understanding of design codes, standards, and specifications.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and piping specifications.

Subject matter expertise in relevant CAD software.

Display a good working knowledge of industry standard design practices, good mechanical aptitude, and general knowledge of industrial design.

Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with all levels in the company.

Ability to effectively communicate technical information.

Ability to attain and promote good customer relationships (both internal and external).

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Meets the qualifications and is capable of performing the duties and responsibilities of a Piping Designer.

Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word with intermediate skills in Excel and Outlook.
