Job Summary: The custodian position is designed to clean and maintain the buildings and grounds of Westerly Public Schools, ensuring a result that provides a safe, attractive, and sanitary environment for students, staff, and community members to use each day.

Experience:

Minimum of 2-years’ experience in a custodial capacity in the private or public sector or successful experience as a maintenance worker in a school system

Possess ability to speak and understand English, basic reading comprehension, math problem-solving/trouble-shooting, and verbal communication skills as determined by standard assessments.
- Working knowledge of basic computer technology, including the ability to access and use email and complete required online training and professional development activities.

High School Degree or equivalent.

Possesses and maintains a valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

Demonstrated ability to safely lift and carry materials weighing up to seventy-five (75) pounds.

Possesses strong manual dexterity to effectively operate cleaning equipment and perform required tasks.

Capable of frequent bending, stooping, and reaching above shoulder level.

Able to safely climb and descend stairs and ladders as part of daily responsibilities.

Maintains the physical strength, stamina, and overall health necessary to perform moderately heavy manual labor on a consistent basis.
