About Us
Arthritis Associates & Osteoporosis Center of Colorado Springs is a private specialty practice dedicated to exceptional patient care. We are seeking an experienced and dependable Medical Billing Specialist to support full-cycle billing, patient accounts, and administrative coordination in a fast-paced rheumatology practice.
Responsibilities
- Assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for billing
- Submit, track, and follow up on insurance claims (commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, etc.)
- A/R follow-up, insurance appeals, and denial resolution
- Post payments and reconcile patient accounts
- Run and review daily insurance eligibility reports
- Understand insurance plan types (HMO vs PPO) and verify coverage
- Identify coverage issues and flag inactive or terminated policies
- Understand and explain deductibles, copays, and patient responsibility
- Send electronic patient statements and manage balances
- Answer billing phone calls and assist patients professionally
- Work with patients to establish payment plans and resolve balance concerns
- Verify and update patient demographics and insurance information
- Assist with rheumatology referrals only (no PAs required)
- Collaborate with providers and front office staff to resolve billing or referral discrepancies
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality at all times
Qualifications
- Experience in Medical billing (required)
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT
- Experience with insurance denials, appeals, and collections
- Familiarity with EHR and practice management systems
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and deadlines
- Knowledge of insurance plan types (HMO vs PPO) and eligibility verification
- Ability to identify coverage issues and flag inactive policies
- Understanding of copays, deductibles, coinsurance, and patient billing responsibility
Preferred Experience
- Specialty medical practice (Rheumatology etc.)
- Experience with rheumatology referrals (no prior authorizations required)
- Understanding of payer reimbursement guidelines and billing policies
Schedule & Pay
Full-Time | Monday – Friday
On-site position only
Compensation based on experience (DOE)
