Job Summary
The Production Associate is a hands-on, entry level position responsible for assisting the Cultivation and Post Harvest Teams in the daily operations of a licensed cannabis production facility. This role supports the entire production lifecycle, including plant care, harvesting, trimming, packaging, and facility sanitation. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, reliable and capable of adapting to a fast-paced and highly regulated environment. This is a full-time position, 35-40 hours per week plus overtime when necessary.
Primary Responsibilities
Harvest and Post-Harvest Processing:
- Support the harvest process by cutting down mature plants and preparing them for drying.
- Conduct hand and/or machine trimming or harvested flower to meet quality standards.
- Buck harvested plants by removing flower from the stems.
- Monitor and manage the drying and curing process to ensure product quality.
Packaging and Labeling:
- Accurately weigh, package, and label finished cannabis products, including flower, pre-rolls, and edibles.
- Operate and maintain packaging machinery.
- Conduct final quality control checks on packaged products.
Cultivation and Plant Care:
- Assist with the daily care of cannabis plants, including cloning, transplanting, watering, and feeding.
- Perform plant maintenance tasks such as pruning, defoliating, and trellising.
- Inspect plants for pests, mold, or disease and assist with integrated pest management (IPM) protocols.
Compliance and Record-Keeping:
- Strictly adhere to all state and local cannabis regulations and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Use a "seed-to-sale" tracking system to meticulously document all production activities, including product weight, waste, and transfers.
- Complete daily production logs and other required reports.
Cleaning and Sanitation:
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment to prevent contamination.
- Thoroughly clean and sterilize all equipment, tools, and work surfaces daily.
- Assist with waste disposal procedures according to company policy and state regulations.
Required qualifications and skills:
- Age and Authorization: Must be at least 21 years of age and authorized to work in the United States.
- Education Requirements: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: A willingness to learn on the job is essential.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous observational skills to identify quality issues and ensure precise measurements and labeling.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, sit, kneel, and bend for extended periods. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Teamwork and Adaptability: Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting and adapt to evolving production schedules and tasks.
- Compliance Mindset: Strong understanding of importance of strict adherence to all rules and regulations.
- Reliable Transportation: Consistent and reliable transportation to and from the facility.
Working Conditions
- The work environment is a fast-paced, indoor production facility with industrial lighting and varying noise levels from machinery and HVAC systems.
- Exposure to strong cannabis odors, and plant pollen is common.
- The role requires wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods.
