Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team at the CISD Transportation Department. This full-time position is essential in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate school buses and other transportation vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and maintenance standards are met.
- Assist in the planning and scheduling of transportation routes to optimize efficiency and meet the needs of students.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, student ridership, and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding transportation schedules and any issues that may arise.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance and minor mechanical repairs and keep accurate, up-to-date records.
- Clean shop floors, stalls, driveways, tools, and equipment.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in transportation safety and operations.
- Assist with special events and field trips as needed, ensuring the safe transportation of students.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Texas commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for operating school buses.
- Clean driving record and a commitment to safety.
- Previous experience in transportation or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late afternoons.
- Proficient in using basic computer applications for record-keeping and communication.
- Must pass background checks and drug screenings as required by district policy.
