Director of Sales

Position Summary
The Sales and manager is responsible for leading all sales initiatives to maximize room revenue, occupancy, and market share for the hotel. This is a proactive, revenue-generating role requiring an experienced hotel sales professional with a strong background in room sales, corporate accounts, negotiated rates, government business, crew business, extended stay, and group sales.
The ideal candidate will have proven success selling hotel rooms, developing new business, maintaining key client relationships, and working closely with Revenue Management and Operations to achieve financial goals.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the hotel's annual Sales & Marketing Plan.
- Drive room revenue by aggressively soliciting new corporate, government, crew, project, leisure, and group business.
- Conduct outside sales calls, prospecting, networking events, and client presentations.
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, mining companies, construction firms, healthcare organizations, travel agencies, and sports groups.
- Generate qualified leads through cold calling, referrals, and brand lead systems.
- Negotiate corporate rate agreements and group contracts.
- Increase occupancy, Average Daily Rate (ADR), and RevPAR while maintaining rate integrity.
- Monitor competitors' pricing, occupancy trends, and market conditions.
- Work closely with the General Manager to develop revenue strategies and monthly forecasts.
- Participate in weekly revenue management meetings.
- Maintain accurate sales activities, account production, and pipeline reports using the hotel's CRM system.
- Represent the hotel at community events, chamber meetings, trade shows, and industry networking opportunities.
- Coordinate with Front Office and Housekeeping to ensure successful execution of group arrivals.
- Respond promptly to RFPs and customer inquiries.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual room revenue goals.
- Ensure compliance with Best Western brand standards and company policies.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of hotel sales experience.
- At least 2 years of Sales coordinator/ Event Organizer/Group Contracts in hotel industry.
- Must have proven experience selling hotel guest rooms (room sales experience is required).
- Experience with select-service or limited-service branded hotels such as Best Western, Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of corporate, negotiated, government, group, and transient room sales.
- Experience preparing annual sales plans, budgets, and revenue forecasts.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency with hotel PMS, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally for sales calls.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in rural or secondary hospitality markets.
- Existing relationships with regional corporate accounts, mining companies, industrial contractors, government agencies, and travel partners.
- Knowledge of Best Western sales programs and brand standards is preferred.
