The Payroll Tax Analyst supports payroll tax compliance and reporting by reviewing and maintaining federal, FICA, state, and local withholding taxes; employer FICA; State Unemployment Insurance (SUI); Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA); payroll tax adjustments; and related payroll tax reports. This role serves as a key contact for federal, state, and local taxing jurisdictions, partners closely with ADP as BBI’s payroll tax vendor, and is responsible for timely review, research, reconciliation, and maintenance of payroll tax activity.
This position is based in our Tampa Restaurant Support Center and will work a hybrid schedule (mix of onsite and remote).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Reviews, researches, and resolves payroll tax issues, including notices, discrepancies, and jurisdictional inquiries.

Reconciles impounded payroll taxes to payroll activity on a weekly basis and resolves reconciling items in a timely manner.

Adjusts and corrects state and local tax codes within Workday and ADP.

Reviews and audits monthly, quarterly and year-end tax reports.

Reviews payroll tax filings, deposits, and amendments prepared by payroll tax vendors to support accurate and timely compliance.

Responsible for maintaining compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

Act as the liaison between ADP and BBI on all payroll tax issues.

Maintains working knowledge of Workday payroll functionality, including payroll tax configuration, reporting, and data maintenance.

Perform all year-end duties in preparation for W-2’s including extensive analysis of the tax data and resolving any W-2 errors. Assist with creating and preparing all W-2C’s.

Research and file the special assessments for specific states with interest payments quarterly/annually.

Prepares and supports multiple worksite reporting requirements as needed.

Provides timely feedback to Manager, ensuring timely issue escalation.

Acts as a resource to the Payroll Operations team; providing guidance and assistance as directed by the Payroll Manager.
- Facilitate strong customer service relationships with external/internal personnel and peers regarding payroll tax issues.

Partners with Payroll Operations, Accounting, HR, Legal, and external vendors to resolve payroll tax matters and support business changes that affect payroll tax compliance.

Generate and review weekly/monthly/quarterly payroll tax reports.

Stays abreast of federal and multi-state tax regulatory requirements and company policies.

Assists the Payroll Manager with the management of state unemployment tax rates, including analysis of voluntary contributions to lower tax rates.

REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources Management, Accounting, Finance, or related field

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC), Certified Public Accountant (CPA) considered a plus
Experience/Skills:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in payroll tax, sales and use tax, or corporate taxes in a large, multi state organization.

Strong background in payroll tax compliance and reporting preferred
- Previous payroll processing experience preferred; restaurant experience considered a plus

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with enterprise HCM systems preferred, Workday a plus.
- Organization - proactively prioritizes assigned responsibilities and works efficiently.
- Attention to detail - reviews payroll tax data, reconciliations, notices, and reports with accuracy and appropriate follow-through.
