Job Overview
Dear Annie, the award-winning restaurant from the team behind Rebel Rebel, is seeking a full-time cook to join our small, dedicated team.
Team members enjoy a collaborative and creative work environment, manageable hours, and the opportunity to grow with the company. Our seasonal menu is heavily influenced by local New England farms and changes weekly in harvest months–cooks have the opportunity to build connections with local farms, foragers, and artisan producers while working with us. Experience with bread baking, fermentation, and/or pastry is a plus. We’re looking for a good-natured, energetic, passionate person to join our close-knit team.
Duties
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Execute food preparation tasks efficiently, including chopping, slicing, marinating, and assembling dishes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Assist with menu planning by suggesting creative ideas and ensuring timely execution of daily specials.
- Handle food safely by following proper food handling procedures, including storage, sanitation, and temperature control.
- Support catering events and special functions by preparing large quantities of food with attention to detail.
- Serve dishes promptly and professionally to ensure excellent customer satisfaction.
Experience
- Prior experience in a restaurant or food service environment is highly preferred, demonstrating familiarity with kitchen operations.
- Culinary experience or training that includes knife skills, meal preparation, and food industry knowledge is essential.
- Experience working in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is a plus, highlighting an understanding of specialized dietary needs.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and practices to ensure compliance and uphold hygiene standards.
- Exposure to menu planning, food handling, cooking techniques, and catering services will set you apart as a candidate.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced setting are vital for success in this role. Pay: $24.88 - $29.96 per hour
