Ascent Hospitality is looking for a uniquely qualified hospitality leader to be our Head Bartender!
The Head Bartender’s role is to lead and oversee bar operations while supporting the Food & Beverage Manager; providing leadership and direction to the bar team; ensuring exceptional beverage service, quality, consistency, and guest engagement; maintaining inventory and cost controls; creating innovative cocktails and beverage programs; and ensuring the bar environment meets the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to uphold Company and Brand standards, policies, and procedures and hold all bar staff accountable for the same
- Ability to organize and prioritize bar operations, delegating responsibilities to bartenders and barbacks effectively
- Lead bar service, ensuring elevated guest engagement and a memorable beverage experience aligned with the hotel and brand culture
- Develop, maintain, and execute cocktail menus, wine lists, and beverage programs with creativity and consistency
- Maintain proper inventory levels, ordering, receiving, and cost control practices to meet financial goals
- Ensure compliance with all alcohol service laws and responsible serving practices
- Maintain safety and sanitation standards for bar areas, equipment, and storage
- Ensure team members’ appearance and professionalism reflect the company image
- Train, mentor, and evaluate bartenders and bar staff, reinforcing service standards and technical skills
- Possess complete knowledge of all beverages, including spirits, wines, beers, ingredients, preparation methods, and presentation
- Practice and enforce proper cash handling and POS system procedures
- Conduct and lead bar-focused pre-shift meetings to communicate priorities, specials, and service steps
- Monitor guest satisfaction, responding proactively to feedback and resolving concerns
- Ensure bar setup, breakdown, and cleaning procedures are performed to standard daily
- Collaborate with culinary and F&B leadership on promotions, events, and seasonal offerings
- Ensure all requisitions and inventory logs are completed accurately and timely
- Attend all required meetings
- Any other duties as required by the Food & Beverage Manager to assist in the operation of the department
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong mixology knowledge and creativity with the ability to develop signature cocktails and beverage menus
- Deep knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, and current beverage trends
- Proven leadership and team development skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Solid understanding of cost control, inventory management, and bar profitability
- Ability to apply common sense and sound judgment in decision-making

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to stand for long periods on hard surfaces
- Frequent use of hands, arms, and repetitive motions associated with bartending tasks
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds regularly without assistance
- Ability to work with cleaning chemicals, glassware, and beverage equipment
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, physically and mentally demanding environment
- Ability to use close and distance vision, color vision, and sense of smell
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
- Current alcohol service certification and food handler’s certification as required by law
- Minimum of three (3) years of bartending experience, with at least one (1) year in a leadership or supervisory role preferred
- Strong background in upscale or lifestyle hospitality environments preferred
- High School diploma required; additional hospitality or mixology training preferred
