Experience VU Peer Tutor
Experience VU Student Support Services peer tutors provide student-centered academic support and mentorship to help peers develop subject mastery, study skills, and executive function strategies. Acting as a dependable academic role model, this position fosters an inclusive environment that encourages independent learning, maintains confidentiality, and supports students with varied learning styles.
Responsibilities:

Demonstrate competency in tutoring subjects, study skills, and executive function strategies

Provide mentoring and encourage independent behavior

Document the time and a brief description of all tutoring contacts

Complete required training
Required Skills:

Understand sensitivity toward the students’ needs

Dependable and trustworthy

Demonstration of leadership qualities

Ability to effectively communicate with and mentor students with varied learning styles
Qualifications:

Recommendation from a faculty member tor tutoring subjects

Minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA
-
Must be at least 18 years old

Demonstrated leadership in academic settings
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Normal physical demands for successful work in a normal office environment: ability to sit or stand for extended periods, ability to utilize hands for general office work including typing, filing, answering telephones, and writing.
