Civil Field Engineer - Power Plant Project
EarthStream Global is seeking a qualified and experienced Civil Field Engineer for a major Power Plant Project located in TN, USA. This assignment is scheduled to commence around October 1st, 2026 and is expected to last approximately 6-7 months.

Start Date: October 1st, 2026
Duration: Approximately 6-7 months
Working Hours: 45 hours per week (Monday-Friday), with a strong possibility of increasing to 50-55 hours per week depending on project requirements.
Role Overview
The Civil Field Engineer will provide technical support and guidance to the construction partner regarding civil engineering documentation, drawings, specifications, and site execution activities. The position requires ensuring that civil works are performed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and engineering intent.
The successful candidate will exercise due diligence, technical competence, and professional judgment in supporting construction activities while maintaining clear boundaries regarding the contractor's responsibilities for quality management, supervision, project execution, and schedule performance.
The primary mission of this role is to provide expert technical support to civil construction activities on site with a strong focus on quality, compliance, safety, and successful project delivery within a power generation environment.
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Respond to technical queries and provide engineering support to the construction partner regarding civil design documentation, embedded components, and power plant equipment foundations and structures.
- Review civil construction activities and verify compliance with project specifications, quality requirements, and approved engineering documentation.
- Identify construction deviations and recommend corrective actions where required.
- Support the safe execution of all civil activities in accordance with project EHS policies and site safety procedures.
- Provide technical oversight relating to major power plant systems, including gas/steam Turbines & generator foundations, HRSG foundations, structural steel, equipment embedments, and associated civil infrastructure.
- Monitor implementation of engineering revisions and site design changes.
- Collaborate with project management, planning, quality, and construction teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
Quality & Site Oversight Duties
- Verify that construction activities are being properly controlled and managed by the construction partner and subcontractors.
- Review and provide comments on construction quality documentation including:
- Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Method Statements
- Risk Assessments
- Turnover Procedures
- Quality Control Procedures
- Witness and sign off agreed inspection points where required.
- Ensure all construction deviations are identified, documented, and reported.
- Escalate site issues that may impact quality, safety, schedule, or compliance.
- Participate in turnover and completion processes.
- Review contractor quality documentation and verify compliance with project and contractual requirements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide proactive guidance to construction teams to prevent non-conforming work.
- Support site material coordination activities to ensure timely delivery and installation of embedments and civil materials.
- Liaise with the engineering team to obtain technical resolutions and recommendations.
- Monitor and support implementation of engineering changes in the field.
- Supply project management and quality teams with accurate progress and technical updates.
- Verify implementation of As-Built and Red-Line Mark-Up processes.
- Attend turnover inspections and identify punch list items where applicable.
- Prepare assignment close-out reports and contribute to Lessons Learned reviews.
- Stop work when unsafe conditions or behaviours are observed and immediately report concerns to site management.
- Raise NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and quality observations where required.
- Coordinate with engineering teams for technical clarifications and issue resolution.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience working on Power Plant projects is essential. Candidates without Power Plant construction experience will not be considered.
- Strong technical knowledge of power generation facilities, construction methodologies, equipment foundations, and civil engineering practices within the power sector.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience as a Civil Field Engineer, Site Engineer, Construction Engineer, or similar role on large-scale industrial or power generation projects.
- Demonstrated experience supporting construction activities on gas-fired, combined-cycle, steam turbine, or other utility-scale power plant projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, construction procedures, and quality documentation.
Desired Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of power plant civil construction practices.
- Experience working within EPC, power generation, or heavy industrial environments.
- Strong interpersonal, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to analyse technical issues and implement practical solutions.
- Ability to work independently in a site-based environment.
- Demonstrated capability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction setting.
- Experience supporting project quality, turnover, and commissioning activities.
Key RequirementPower Plant Experience is Essential
This role is specifically supporting a major Power Plant Project, therefore applicants must have proven experience working on power generation projects. Candidates with backgrounds limited to commercial buildings, residential construction, infrastructure, or general industrial projects without direct power plant experience will not be suitable for this position.
