About Vino Venue
Within the food and beverage world, Vino Venue is a unique concept. Combining a restaurant and bar, a wine retail shop, and an event space with a separate professional kitchen, it is truly a wine and food emporium for guests.
Position
Our multi-dimensional, entrepreneurial culture moves at a fast pace. In a typical year, we conduct 300 private client events and instruct 3,000 students for wine and cooking classes. We pride ourselves on having staff that is passionate, charismatic, knowledgeable, approachable, and professional. Our event and class assistants are an integral part of our business. We are seeking individuals who are motivated to elevate professionalism and service to the next level and help us become one of the top wine and cooking institutions and private event venues in the country. At Vino Venue, you will not only work with, and learn from, talented wine educators and professional chefs, but we will also provide you with an exciting, challenging and rewarding experience. This is a part time, flexible position; shifts are assigned as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Timely set up for events/classes by arranging placement of tables and chairs, putting out tablecloths, place settings and glassware, setting up bars and water stations, setting up buffets or chef prep stations
- Greet and welcome guests and respond to requests in a courteous and friendly manner
- Perform food and drink serving duties at classes and events while interacting with guests and clients in a positive, professional, friendly and efficient manner
- Carry plates of food on trays and serve guests
- Refill glasses when necessary; remove plates and replenish utensils and check with guests to ensure they are satisfied
- Abide by all laws and requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages
- Serve the beverage and food in the appropriate order and in tune with the expectation of the event/class lead or instructor/chef so as to ensure consistency throughout the event/class
- Provide customer service throughout the event/class
- Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness of the venue and demonstration kitchen
- Perform cleaning tasks and breakdown of service to reset space in accordance with specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for other functions
- Adhere to grooming and appearance standards
- Ability to lift and/or move heavy objects
- Perform other related functions that may be assigned by the manager or event/class lead
Requirements & Qualifications
Passion for quality service, and food and beverage knowledge.
WSET Level 1 Award in Wines or higher (can be obtained on the job).
Excellent oral communication and listening skills.
Ability to work in a high-energy and demanding environment.
Organization, leadership skills, positive attitude and is a team player.
Works well under pressure.
Can effectively solve problems.
Able to take direction and accept constructive criticism.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Must have basic knowledge of service standards, guest relations, food and beverage preparations as well as etiquette.
Previous restaurant or banquet server experience preferred but not required.
Assistants are expected to work at least one cooking class and one other event per quarter.
