American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a 16-bed ED Observation Unit at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring 2 years of ER experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Position based in a 16-bed ED Observation Unit, a separate location from the Main ED providing non-admitted observation level of care
-
Average patient ratios of 1:6 during both day and night shifts
-
Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
-
Every other weekend required
-
No on-call responsibilities
-
Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
-
Open to accommodating block schedules
-
Uses Epic for charting, experience preferred
-
If minimum requirements for the primary ED are not met, candidates will be scheduled at the Observation Unit, with eligibility for other campus EDs after a successful contract

Active RN license (CT or Compact) required, or eligibility to apply prior to submission

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS, PALS

Preferred certifications: CPI, ENPC

2 years of ER experience required; candidates with 1.5 years from a Level I Trauma Center or with travel experience will also be considered

Experience with patient ratios of 1:5-6 preferred

Level I and Level II Trauma Center experience preferred

Community hospital experience preferred
-
Skills in psychiatric care, IV therapy/phlebotomy, respiratory management, neurological care, and cardiac monitoring preferred
-
Experience with emergency medications and IV vasopressors preferred
-
Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure and interpreting/managing dysrhythmias preferred
-
Ability to obtain 12-lead EKG/ECG

Splinting and ortho trauma skills preferred

1 professional reference required
-
Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
-
COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only accepted

Provide emergency nursing care within an ED Observation Unit at a Level I Trauma Center and Academic Medical Center

Work in a large, high-acuity emergency environment as part of a Short Term Acute Care hospital
-
Must be willing to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities if required by the facility
-
Requests for RTO greater than 7 days require additional approval
-
Local candidates are not accepted; candidates within 75 miles of the hospital are considered local and ineligible
-
Former staff members must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible to return as a traveler
-
First-time travelers are not accepted unless they have Epic experience
