Position Overview
We are seeking a Work Zone Supervisor to oversee and manage NCDOT roadway and traffic control projects in the Winston-Salem and surrounding area.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with deep knowledge of NCDOT standards, MUTCD requirements, and hands-on experience supervising traffic control operations in active roadway environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily work zone setup, maintenance, and takedown in accordance with NCDOT and MUTCD standards
- Lead, train, and manage traffic control crews to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Conduct job site safety briefings and enforce all state and company safety policies
- Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, contractors, and NCDOT representatives
- Review traffic control plans (TCPs) and ensure strict compliance in the field
- Identify and resolve field issues proactively to minimize delays and safety risks
- Maintain accurate job documentation, reports, and crew records
- Serve as the primary on-site supervisor and point of contact for assigned projects
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in work zone supervision and traffic control on NCDOT projects
- Work Zone Supervisor Certifications
- Proven experience supervising crews in live highway/roadway environments
- Strong working knowledge of: NCDOT Standard Specifications, MUTCD requirements, Traffic Control Plans (TCPs)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read plans, enforce standards, and make sound field decisions
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and varying schedules as required
Preferred Certifications (or ability to obtain)
- NCDOT Traffic Control Certifications

Pay: $40.00 - $47.00 per hour
