A growing Orthopedic and Spine practice is bringing our medical billing and coding in-house. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Medical Biller/Coder to build and run our billing operation from the ground up, working alongside an AI-assisted billing system that handles much of the repetitive, high-volume work.
You'll oversee that system's output and focus your expertise where it matters most: complex claims, denials, appeals, and edge cases that require clinical and coding judgment. This is not a routine data-entry role. We need someone who understands the full revenue cycle and is comfortable managing technology as part of their daily workflow.
This role is fully remote, with hybrid in-person work available at our Northeast Georgia office if preferred.
What You'll Do:
- Own the full billing lifecycle: coding, claim scrubbing, claim submission, denial management, appeals, payment posting, and AR management
- Review and validate coding and claims generated by our AI billing system, correcting and refining as needed
- Handle complex, high-value, and exception cases that fall outside standard automated processing
- Investigate and resolve claim denials and underpayments, filing appeals as needed
- Monitor AR aging and follow up on outstanding claims to keep collections on track
- Post payments and reconcile accounts accurately
- Identify patterns in denials or AI system errors and help refine workflows and rules over time
- Stay current on orthopedic-specific coding guidelines, payer policies, and CMS/NCD/LCD updates
- Serve as the practice's point person for billing questions from patients, providers, and payers
What We're Looking For:
- 3+ years of medical billing and coding experience, orthopedic/spine billing strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding, plus payer-specific billing rules
- Hands-on experience with the full revenue cycle, not just one piece of it
- Comfort working with and overseeing AI or automation-driven billing tools; this role requires someone who's tech-savvy and adaptable, not intimidated by new systems
- Experience with eClinicalWorks preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills for denial management and appeals
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently
- Coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS-P, or equivalent) preferred but not required with sufficient experience
Why Join Us:
- Be a founding member of our in-house billing operation, with real ownership over how it's built
- Work with modern AI-assisted billing tools instead of pure manual claims processing
- Negotiable salary based on experience, plus performance bonus incentives
- Health insurance and 401(k) benefits
- Your choice of fully remote work or hybrid in-person at our Northeast Georgia office
To apply, submit your resume along with a brief note about your orthopedic billing experience and any experience working with automated or AI-assisted billing systems.
