Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and highly organized EMS Dispatcher to coordinate emergency medical services efficiently and effectively. Duties
- Receive and prioritize emergency calls using multi-line phone systems, ensuring clear and professional phone etiquette.
- Gather critical information from callers through effective phone triage, including details about the nature of emergencies and patient conditions.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and GPS technology to determine precise locations and dispatch appropriate units promptly.
- Coordinate with law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and ambulance services to facilitate seamless emergency response operations.
- Dispatch EMS units efficiently by analyzing real-time data, traffic conditions, and resource availability to optimize response times.
- Maintain accurate records through data entry and transcription of call details, ensuring compliance with documentation standards.
- Manage conflict situations with calm negotiation skills while maintaining security protocols during high-stress incidents.
- Monitor ongoing incidents, providing support and updates to first responders as needed to ensure safety and coordination.
Requirements
- Proven experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) dispatching or related fields such as law enforcement or emergency response coordination.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, first aid procedures, and basic life support protocols.
- Familiarity with GIS, GPS systems, and multi-line phone systems used in emergency dispatch environments.
- Strong analysis skills for assessing situations quickly and making sound decisions under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally over the phone and radio channels.
- Proficiency in typing, data entry, transcription, and maintaining detailed incident records accurately.
- Ability to handle conflict management effectively while maintaining composure in stressful situations.
