Candidates:
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with middle/high school youth; church background, and progressive Christian outlook; enthusiastic, positive, and willing to be a mentor. Must be at least 23 years old.
Safety: Abide by the First Church Safe Conduct Policy and the Church Personnel Manual. All applicants are required to pass CORI and SORI checks.
Staff Meetings: Our staff is very team oriented. The Youth Ministry Director will attend weekly staff meetings. Attending these meetings and working well with other staff members is one of the priorities of this position.
Responsibilities:
Youth Groups: Responsible for providing leadership for middle/high school students and the development and direction of a team of leaders to assist the program.
Faith Formation: Helping students to get to know God better is primary. Examples are attending worship on Sundays at 10am, lesson planning, leading discussions, youth group meeting programming, supporting the Confirmation program taught by the senior pastor.
Special Events: In addition to regular Sunday classes and youth group meetings, the Youth Ministry Director will be expected to plan regular special events that are fun for the students (i.e. bowling nights, sporting events, or other special activities).
Fellowship: Responsible for building a positive relationship with the congregation at large, while focusing on the needs and development of our youth ministry. Relations with students is primary, but working with all people in the church is essential.
Prayer: Responsible for interceding on behalf of the students and their families. These prayers will help to make sure God remains at the center of all our ministries.
Outreach: Responsible for encouraging students and their families to participate in outreach opportunities within our community and any organized service projects within the life of our church.
Compensation: This is a part-time, hourly position (from 10-25 hours per week) reporting directly to the senior pastor. Pay scale commensurate with qualifications and experience.
