Reports To: Safety Director
Basic Function: The Safety Specialist supports the delivery of safety services, education, and compliance support to ABC of Iowa member companies. This role focuses on field-level training, regulatory interpretation, and relationship-building to strengthen ABC's of Iowa’s presence and value in the safety space.
Specific Responsibilities: Either in conjunction with safety contracts or individual
member service requests:
· Deliver OSHA, CPR, First Aid, and construction-specific safety training.
· Audit, review and/or develop comprehensive safety & health programs for members
· Promote and manage STEP participation and data tracking.
· Visit member job sites and assist with hazard assessments and basic compliance support.
· Represent ABC of Iowa at safety meetings, roundtables, and external events.
· Maintain accurate training documentation and reports.
· Create and distribute toolbox talks and safety updates.
· Support ABC of Iowa events, the Safety Council, and community partnerships.
· Assist members with OSHA forms, logs, and inspection preparedness.
· Perform additional duties as assigned by the Safety Director to support the strategic priorities of the chapter.
· Maintain a positive working relationship with regulatory agencies and construction organizations

Minimum (Required) Qualifications/Specialized Skills:
· Education/Degree Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in safety or related field. However, an equivalent combination of education, training, and directly related professional experience may be considered in place of a degree.
· Experience Requirement
- 2–4 years of industry experience.
· Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
· Certification Requirement
- OSHA/CPR certification (or willingness to earn within 6 months).
· Driving Requirement
- Valid driver’s license required for operating company or personal vehicle for work.
· Overnight for Work
- As we are a state-wide association, some overnight stays will be required.
Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
