Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine individual needs.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following prescribed protocols, including IV infusions and medication management.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for documentation, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Conduct specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization (including urinary and vascular), tube feeding management, and sterile processing when applicable.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals in acute care settings like ICU, trauma centers, or emergency rooms to deliver timely interventions.
- Manage complex cases involving chronic conditions such as cardiac issues, infectious diseases, geriatrics, or behavioral health needs while adhering to NCQA standards.
- Provide patient education on health coaching topics including pain management, medication administration, post-discharge care planning, and disease prevention strategies.
Requirements
- Valid nursing license (RN) in good standing with relevant state licensing boards.
- Proven experience working in diverse clinical environments such as hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU, or long-term care facilities.
- Strong proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms; familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding and medical documentation standards.
- Demonstrated skills in critical care procedures like ventilator management, airway management, trauma medicine, neonatal resuscitation procedures (NRP), or dialysis when applicable.
- Ability to perform advanced clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, venipuncture, aseptic technique, lab specimen collection/processing and triage assessments.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology coupled with experience in pain management, infection control protocols, and emergency response procedures.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or those requiring specialized care such as dementia or memory care is highly valued.
