Cogstone Resource Management is seeking an on-call Paleontological Technician to support our team for ongoing work statewide within California. Technicians will perform full range of paleontological tasks associated with mitigation work. The technician will work on inventory, research, evaluation, and mitigation projects. Project tasks include research, literature reviews, fossil locality searches, field surveys and excavations, field monitoring, preparing stratigraphic columns, laboratory processing and fossil preparation, data analysis, writing, and report preparation. Ability to work well with construction crews and colleagues, and to follow specific protocols is necessary. Availability to travel may be necessary.
Skills:
- Confidence in the construction environment
- Proficiency in use of tablets and standard office software
- Excellent field notes
- Experience with stratigraphic columns and fossil recovery a plus
- Fossil preparation experience
- Ability to work independently with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team
- Self-motivated with strong initiative
