The Safety Specialist supports a large, complex construction project by leading onsite safety efforts, ensuring full compliance with OSHA regulations and internal policies, and fostering a strong safety culture among field teams. This role conducts detailed inspections, delivers safety training, and leads incident response activities to proactively prevent injuries and environmental incidents in an active construction environment.
Responsibilities-
Perform routine and unscheduled jobsite inspections to identify safety, health, and environmental risks and verify that corrective actions are implemented and effective.

Enforce compliance with OSHA regulations, client requirements, and internal company safety policies and procedures across all construction activities.

Deliver safety training programs, including new hire orientation and ongoing safety education for craft and field personnel.

Prepare detailed inspection reports that document findings, identified risks, corrective recommendations, and follow-up actions.

Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate hazardous conditions and at-risk behaviors to prevent incidents and near-misses.

Develop and implement Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) for new, complex, and high-risk work activities to ensure safe work planning.

Serve as the primary point of contact for jobsite incidents, injuries, and near-misses, providing guidance and coordination for all safety-related issues.

Lead incident response efforts, including securing the scene, preserving and documenting evidence, conducting witness interviews, and coordinating corrective and preventive actions.

Partner closely with field leadership and craft supervisors to drive continuous improvement in safety performance and regulatory compliance.

Conduct safety audits, observations, and follow-up reviews to verify the effectiveness of safety programs and corrective measures.

Support the development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of site-specific safety programs and procedures.

Communicate safety expectations clearly to field teams and reinforce safe work practices through regular engagement and coaching.

Maintain accurate and timely safety documentation, including training records, inspection logs, incident reports, and AHAs.

Work collaboratively with EHS and project teams to align safety initiatives with project schedules and operational needs.
Essential Skills-
Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a construction safety role, preferably on large or complex construction projects.

Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards, regulations, and compliance requirements related to construction environments.

Demonstrated ability to conduct safety training, investigations, and safety audits in active construction settings.

Experience performing jobsite inspections and implementing corrective actions for safety, health, and environmental risks.

Proficiency in developing and implementing Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) for high-risk construction activities.

Ability to lead incident response efforts, including scene control, evidence documentation, and interviews.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and influence field teams, supervisors, and leadership.

Additional Skills & Qualifications-
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Construction Management, or a related field preferred.

CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) or CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Osha 30 certification and strong familiarity with OSHA 500-level concepts are highly beneficial.

CHST certification and experience supporting or managing safety programs in an EHS context.

3+ years of safety experience in a construction environment noted as a baseline, with 5+ years preferred for this role.

Experience working with safety programs in an EHS framework on large industrial or semiconductor projects is an advantage.

Work Environment
This is an onsite, hourly Safety Specialist position supporting a confidential semiconductor construction project in Boise, Idaho. The role follows a structured 60/60/50 work schedule, typically consisting of six 10-hour days for the 60-hour weeks and five 10-hour days for the 50-hour weeks. Hours over 40 in a week are compensated at an overtime rate of 1.5x. One position is assigned to a day shift (approximately 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), and one position is assigned to a night shift (approximately 3:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.), and candidates should be prepared to discuss their desired hourly compensation for both standard and night shift schedules. The work takes place in an active construction environment at a semiconductor facility, requiring regular interaction with field crews, supervisors, and project teams on site. The atmosphere is described as casual, respectful, and balanced, within a medium-sized organization that emphasizes mentorship, development, and advancement opportunities. There is potential for long-term engagement depending on future project load and individual performance, with one position expected to continue into a subsequent project phase. Pay and Benefits
