Faron Engineering is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Structural Engineer with 2+ years of professional experience to join our growing team. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain experience in both structural engineering design and forensic engineering investigations while working directly alongside experienced Professional Engineers.

Position Summary
The Structural Engineer will support a variety of engineering projects involving structural design, engineering analysis, drafting, field inspections, forensic investigations, construction observations, and technical reporting.
A key component of this position is the preparation of engineering drawings, construction documents, repair details, forensic exhibits, and field-generated documentation. Strong AutoCAD proficiency is essential, and candidates with advanced drafting and detailing abilities will be given strong consideration.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and analyze structural systems including steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and light-frame construction.
- Prepare, revise, and coordinate structural plans, drawings, details, and construction documents using AutoCAD, Revit, and related software.
- Develop repair, retrofit, existing condition, and as-built drawings for engineering projects.
- Perform structural calculations and engineering analyses for residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal projects.
- Conduct field inspections, site investigations, and construction observations.
- Participate in forensic engineering investigations involving:
- Structural failures
- Construction defects
- Foundation movement and settlement
- Storm and property damage
- Building performance issues
- Insurance-related claims and damage assessments
- Collect field measurements, photographs, observations, and other investigative data.
- Prepare technical reports, inspection reports, engineering findings, and supporting documentation.
- Create technical exhibits, diagrams, and visual documentation to support engineering evaluations and forensic investigations.
- Review construction documents, plans, specifications, and project requirements.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, property owners, attorneys, insurance professionals, and consultants.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, engineering standards, and company quality procedures.
- Assist with project management, client communications, scheduling, and engineering documentation.
- Support project teams in delivering quality projects on schedule and within budget.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional structural engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
- Experience preparing engineering drawings, construction documents, structural details, and technical exhibits.
- Ability to create accurate and professional drawings with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM) principles.
- Knowledge of structural engineering principles, construction methods, and applicable building codes.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong technical report writing and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel locally for inspections, project meetings, and site visits.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or active pursuit of Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
- Experience using structural analysis software such as:
- RISA
- ETABS
- SAP2000
- STAAD.Pro
- RAM Structural System
- Familiarity with AISC, ACI, ASCE, and International Building Code (IBC) standards.
- Experience conducting structural inspections and construction observations.
- Experience preparing engineering reports, evaluation reports, and project documentation.
Highly Desired Qualifications
- Advanced AutoCAD drafting and detailing experience.
- Experience preparing structural construction documents and permit drawings.
- Revit modeling experience.
- Ability to prepare forensic exhibits, engineering graphics, and technical illustrations.
- Construction experience involving residential, commercial, industrial, or municipal projects.
- Forensic engineering experience involving structural investigations, failure analysis, construction defects, or property damage assessments.
- Experience identifying structural deficiencies, code compliance issues, and construction-related concerns.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, structural systems, and field practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and drawing quality control.
- Experience preparing technical reports, inspection reports, expert reports, and field observation reports.

Work Environment
This is a hybrid position that combines office work, remote work, and field assignments as business needs permit.
