Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Assembly Department Supervisor to lead the daily operations of our commercial lighting assembly department. This role is responsible for ensuring production goals, quality standards, employee performance, and safety expectations are consistently achieved while maintaining efficient workflow throughout the department.
The ideal candidate will have previous supervisory experience in commercial lighting manufacturing and possess strong technical knowledge of lighting fixtures, ERP systems, manufacturing reports, and production processes. This individual must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of leading employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate assembly line activities to meet production schedules while maintaining quality standards.
- Lead, motivate, and manage assembly team members, providing training and support to optimize performance.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturing protocols, including proper manual handling and heavy lifting procedures.
- Interpret technical drawings, manufacturing documents, and work instructions to facilitate accurate assembly.
- Utilize measuring instruments and power tools effectively to assemble components according to specifications.
- Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements aligned with lean manufacturing principles.
- Conduct regular safety audits and enforce safety protocol adherence across the assembly area.
- Manage inventory levels of hand tools, measuring instruments, and other equipment necessary for assembly operations.
- Collaborate with quality control teams to address defects or issues promptly and maintain high-quality output.
- Maintain accurate production documentation and reports for management review.
- Support warehouse operations related to parts storage, movement, and inventory accuracy.
- Supervise and direct the daily activities of assembly employees.
- Ensure production schedules and customer deadlines are met.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Shipping, and Production Planning to resolve issues and maintain workflow.
- Maintain housekeeping and organization throughout the department.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work overtime as required to meet production demands.
- Verify proper assembly of commercial lighting fixtures to company quality standards.
- Ensure employees safely and properly use hand tools and assembly equipment.
- Review production reports and identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience in the commercial lighting industry.
- Proven experience in factory or manufacturing facility environments with a focus on assembly operations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage production or assembly teams effectively.
- Strong mechanical knowledge coupled with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
- Familiarity with interpreting technical drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- Knowledge of safety standards in production environments, including heavy lifting and manual handling procedures.
- Experience with lean manufacturing techniques and process improvement initiatives.
- Ability to operate forklifts safely; forklift certification is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing workflow and documentation.
- Prior experience in warehouse operations or inventory management is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate across departments and ensure team alignment.

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
