Our client, a manufacturing company specializing in industrial scrap and waste handling systems, is seeking to hire a MIG Welder in Germantown, WI. The position involves fabricating and welding customized shredders, conveyor systems, trim cutters, and material handling fan systems. These products dispose of paper, foil, light metal, wood pallets, skids, and plastic, utilizing a unique patented "Pierce-and-Tear" shredding concept. This full-time position offers a competitive pay range of $25-$27 per hour, based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, with opportunities for overtime based on production demands.
The company currently has 31 employees, including ownership, office staff, and shop floor workers. The Mig Welder will work on a variety of custom projects and should be able to work independently, reading blueprints to create large custom metal fabrications. This role requires strong collaboration with engineering teams, fabricators, electricians, and general workers to maintain high-quality production.
Duties Include:
- Set-up & welding of .035 hardwire for a variety of custom fabrications
- Perform small fixture welding and open table welding (machine guards, structural components, etc.)
- Inspect, clean, and grind own welds to meet quality standards
- Operate hand plasma and hand torch (critical skill for cutting and preparation work)
- Perform MIG welding on a range of materials, including 16GA sheet metal up to ½” mild plate steel and structural steel components, specializing in thinner gauges (16GA–1/4”).
- Manage multiple set-ups daily in a custom fabrication environment (not repetitive production welding)
- Perform fit-up work on open tables, ensuring proper alignment and assembly without dedicated fixtures
- Read and interpret blueprints to execute complex welds and fabrications
- Lay down chalk lines to establish weld layouts and assemblies from scratch
- Collaborate closely with engineers, fabricators, and shop personnel to optimize production and workflow
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of MIG welding experience (TIG, Stick, and Subarc not used)
- Proficient with open table fit-up work and custom fabrication.
- Overhead crane and forklift experience preferred but not required.
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read blueprints and executing detailed welding instructions.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
