FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary: Provides episodic care to patients following accepted standards and protocols.
Primary Job Duties:
- Perform complete physical exams and assessments of patients including urgent, emergent and non-urgent presentation.
- Select, order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests including wet reading X-rays as appropriate.
- Analyze reports and findings of tests to diagnose patients.
- Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness and injury.
- Refers patient to PCP or specialist as appropriate.
- Perform procedures including laceration repair, I & D’s, IV, removal of foreign bodies, splinting and casting, ear irrigations.
- Explain procedures, discuss test results and prescribed treatments with patients.
- Document findings and treatment course in patient electronic medical record including follow-up notes.
- Direct professional and ancillary staff regarding treatment of patients.
- Interact with medical practices and emergency room physicians to create a cooperative atmosphere.
- Maintain up to date knowledge base for medical conditions and injuries that may present to an urgent care setting.
- Assist with training and orientating new provider staff.
- Maintain strictest confidentiality (HIPAA)
Education:
- Medical degree from accredited university either MD or DO with completion of residency program in Family Practice or Internal Medicine
with Urgent Care Experience
- Experience Med-Peds or ER
Licensure/Certifications:
- Board Eligible or Certification in Family Practice, Med-Peds, or Emergency Medicine.
- State and Federal licensure.
- DEA licensure.
- ACLS/PAL certification.
Experience:
- A minimum of two years clinical experience with pediatric and adult patients preferred.
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of medical coding.
- Knowledge of the principles and practice of urgent care medicine.
- Knowledge of the principles and practice of occupational health, DOT exams
Skills:
- Competent with common PC applications including Internet, Email and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Excellent customer service skills
