At Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center (AVRMC), we believe nutrition plays a vital role in patient outcomes and overall wellness. We are seeking a knowledgeable, caring, and motivated Registered Dietitian to join our team in La Junta, Colorado.

As a Registered Dietitian, you will plan, coordinate, and evaluate nutritional care for patients across the continuum of care. Working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams, you will ensure patients receive individualized nutrition plans that support healing, disease management, and overall wellbeing.
This is a Part-Time position within our Nutrition Services Department.
Nutrition Planning & Patient Care
- Plan and coordinate nutritional care activities to meet individual patient needs
- Assess nutrition status and develop appropriate nutrition interventions
- Write and implement special diets as required
- Monitor and evaluate nutrition care plans for effectiveness
Counseling & Education
- Provide diet counseling to patients and families as appropriate
- Educate patients on therapeutic diets and lifestyle modifications
- Support patient understanding and compliance with nutrition plans
Collaboration & Communication
- Consult with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
- Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and communication
- Maintain professional relationships across departments
Documentation & Professional Practice
- Monitor and document nutrition care according to hospital standards
- Maintain national registration and continuing education requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Nutrition Services
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Foods and Nutrition from an accredited college or university recognized by the American Dietetic Association (ADA)
- Completion of requirements for ADA membership
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required within 12 months of hire
- Continued maintenance of national registration, including 75 hours of continuing education every 5 years
