Position Summary:
The Human Resources Manager oversees all HR functions including employee relations, labor relations, recruitment, performance management, and compliance. This role will play a key part in fostering a positive work environment and ensuring effective communication and collaboration between management and bargaining unit employees. The HR Manager will serve as a liaison between the company and union representatives, ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) and promoting fair and consistent HR practices.
Key Responsibilities:

Administer and interpret collective bargaining agreements and serve as the primary HR contact for union-related matters.

Partner with labor union representatives to address grievances, negotiate terms, and support labor-management initiatives.

Advise managers and supervisors on HR policies, union contract provisions, and disciplinary procedures.

Schedule and maintain status of all training for each employee to ensure no training gaps for recurring and new training.

Support and participate in labor negotiations and contract administration.

Conduct investigations related to employee relations issues, including those involving bargaining unit employees.

Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals and union workforce needs.

Ensure legal and contractual compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (e.g. FMLA, FLSA, EEO, NLRA).

Lead or assist with talent acquisition, onboarding, training, and development programs.

Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HRIS data.

Collaborate with payroll and benefits teams to ensure accurate processing for all employees, including those under union contracts.

Monitor workplace culture and morale, identifying opportunities for improvement in engagement and communication.

Prepare reports and metrics on HR activities, grievances, disciplinary actions, and workforce trends.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree preferred).

5+ years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a unionized environment.

Strong understanding of labor law and experience administering collective bargaining agreements.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.

Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.

Strong organizational and conflict-resolution skills.

Proficient in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite.

PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
Work Environment:

Office environment with regular interaction on the shop floor or operational areas.

May require occasional travel or extended hours to support labor negotiations or investigations.
