We are seeking a skilled and motivated Yard Equipment Technician to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on yard equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, trailers, and other construction machinery.
- Utilize schematic diagrams and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, air brakes, suspension systems, HVAC components, and diesel engines.
- Conduct welding, fabrication, assembly, and replacement of parts using hand tools and power tools to restore equipment functionality.
- Diagnose mechanical issues related to heavy equipment operation such as steering alignment, tire service, brake repair, and suspension repairs.
- Maintain accurate service records detailing repairs performed, parts used, and maintenance schedules to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Assist in the calibration of equipment and perform heavy lifting tasks safely using appropriate lifting techniques or equipment.
- Support customer service efforts by providing technical advice or assistance on equipment troubleshooting and repairs as needed.
Experience
- Proven dealership experience or background working with OEM construction or industrial equipment is highly preferred.
- Extensive hands-on experience with heavy machinery maintenance including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, and farm machinery.
- Strong knowledge of electrical diagnostics combined with automotive diagnostics skills for troubleshooting complex electrical systems.
- Familiarity with schematics related to hydraulics, powertrains (transmissions), diesel engine repair (including diesel mechanics), air brake systems, HVAC systems, and suspension components.
- Experience in welding (including soldering), fabrication, assembly work, and the use of various hand tools and power tools required for heavy equipment repair.
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately while applying mechanical knowledge to diagnose issues efficiently.
- Prior service technician experience in construction equipment servicing or similar fields is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong customer service orientation; capable of working independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
