The Field Welder is responsible for performing welding, fabrication, repair, and installation work at customer job sites and construction locations. This position requires the ability to read blueprints, operate welding equipment safely, and complete high-quality welds in a variety of field conditions. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform MIG, TIG, Stick (required), and Flux-Core welding as required by project specifications.
- Fabricate, repair, and install structural steel, piping, equipment, and related components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, weld symbols, and work orders.
- Measure, cut, fit, and assemble metal components using hand and power tools.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Operate grinders, torches, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment.
- Maintain welding equipment and tools in proper working condition.
- Follow all OSHA regulations and site-specific safety requirements.
- Coordinate with supervisors, project managers, and other trades to complete projects efficiently.
- Travel to customer locations and job sites as assigned.
- Complete required documentation, reports, and timesheets accurately.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of welding experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, or field service environments.
- Ability to pass welding tests and certifications as required.
- Knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and fabrication practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work at heights and on elevated work platforms when required.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity necessary to perform precision welding tasks.
Working Conditions
- Construction sites, industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, and customer locations.
- Exposure to welding fumes, heat, noise, and outdoor environmental conditions.
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on project demands.
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
