Since 2016, Correctional Health Services (CHS) has been the direct provider of health care in the New York City jails. Deeply committed to human dignity and patient rights, CHS is part of the NYC Health + Hospitals system and is a key partner in the City’s efforts to reform the criminal-legal system. Our in-jail clinical services include medical, nursing, and mental health care; substance-use treatment; social work; dental and vision care; discharge planning; and reentry support.
CHS also is a key partner in the City’s efforts to reform the criminal-legal system. In this role, CHS also operates the citywide Forensic Psychiatric Evaluation Court Clinics (FPECC). The mission of the CHS Forensic Psychiatry Evaluation Court Clinics (FPECC) is to provide objective, high quality forensic mental health examinations for New York City’s criminal court system. FPECC reports shall provide relevant clinical and scientific data to aid the Court in making final legal determinations regarding fitness and/or sentencing.
Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Clinic Administrator with latitude for independent initiative, the Coordinating Manager oversees the daily operations of the relevant Forensic Psychiatric Evaluation Court Clinics. Operations entail the receipt of, scheduling, and efficient processing of all CPL 730 and 390 evaluations referred to the clinic. In addition to the processing of orders, the Coordinating Manager maintains a safe, professional, and strategically innovative work environment. The Coordinating Manager is responsible for direct supervision of Associate Coordinating Manager and Clerical Associate. Technological skill and working knowledge of legal processes preferred.
Essential Job Functions

Responsible for all boro- or site-specific day-to-day operations management for assigned areas

Provides oversight of site scheduling, and conveys metrics and insights on a regular basis to Clinic Administrator to convey clinical staff’s compliance with site’s productivity targets

Oversees processes to find areas of improvement and is expected to define and independently implement site-level interventions to improve scheduling efficiency for assigned FPECC location/s.

Analyze and create reports around the current overall state of the clinic.

Adheres to timelines and goals as developed in collaboration with senior leadership.

Observe, review, and analyze processes to identify inefficiencies and areas of improvement.

Collaborate with leadership to set departmental goals.

Develop and maintain working relationships with all stakeholders involved with the clinics, including (but not limited to) judges, court personnel, DCAS, DOC, NYPD, attorneys, and CHS leadership.

Promote internal development and growth of employees.

Take initiative with clinic function, operate clinics with minimal supervision.

Long term planning to create initiatives that further the goals of the clinic and CHS.

Supervision of staff and delegating responsibilities.

Trains new FPECC administrative staff on daily responsibilities and general workflow.

Leads and participates in operations and interdepartmental meetings.
