Position Summary
The Barista is responsible for crafting Ophelia's coffee and espresso-based drinks with speed, consistency, and care. This role requires a genuine interest in coffee — from flavor profiles to proper extraction — paired with the ability to work efficiently in a compact, high-volume space. Baristas play a key role in maintaining a clean, organized bar and keeping the team informed on inventory levels so the shop never runs short during peak hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Pull espresso shots and prepare drinks (lattes, cappuccinos, cold brew, etc.) with speed and accuracy
- Follow recipes and standards consistently to ensure every drink meets Ophelia's quality bar
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and efficient workspace throughout the shift, including during rush periods
- Work effectively within a tight bar space alongside cashiers and packers
- Track inventory of coffee beans, cups, lids, milks, syrups, and other bar supplies
- Proactively communicate low-stock or supply needs to management before they become a problem
- Calibrate and maintain espresso equipment (grinders, machines) as needed
- Stay current on Ophelia's coffee offerings and be able to speak knowledgeably with guests about them
- Follow proper food safety and cleanliness standards for all bar equipment and surfaces

Qualifications & Skills
- Genuine interest in and enthusiasm for coffee and the craft of drink-making
- Speed and accuracy in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational habits and ability to keep a clean, efficient workspace
- Basic inventory-tracking skills and comfort flagging needs to management
- Clear communication skills to coordinate with the rest of the team
- Prior barista or coffee shop experience preferred but not required
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; Ophelia does not provide visa sponsorship for this position
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a small, tight bar area
- Ability to work efficiently under time pressure during rush periods
- Comfortable operating espresso machines, grinders, and related equipment
Weekend & Schedule Availability
Ophelia operates as a mobile bakery with peak demand on weekends and around morning service hours. This role requires availability to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) as a regular part of the schedule, along with flexibility for early morning shifts, holidays, and occasional schedule changes based on business needs (special events, catering, pop-ups).
Compensation
Base pay: $10.98–$13.00/hour + tips
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
