Responsibilities
- Cover high school sports events by attending games, matches, and tournaments to gather newsworthy content.
- Produce high-quality written articles that adhere to AP style guidelines, highlighting key moments and athlete profiles.
- Capture vibrant photographs and shoot video footage during sporting events to enhance storytelling.
- Manage social media channels by posting real-time updates, highlights, and behind-the-scenes content to engage followers actively.
- Conduct research on teams, players, and game statistics to provide accurate and comprehensive coverage.
- Fact-check all information for accuracy and maintain journalistic integrity in every piece produced.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Proven experience or strong interest in sports journalism, content writing, or multimedia reporting.
- Proficiency in photography and videography, with the ability to produce compelling visual content.
- Skilled in video production and editing using industry-standard software; experience with television broadcast editing is a plus.
- Excellent written communication skills with a keen eye for detail; familiarity with AP style is preferred.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to connect with diverse communities effectively.
- Strong research skills combined with fact-checking and proofreading capabilities to ensure accuracy.
- Knowledge of social media management tools and strategies for engaging digital audiences.
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends during sports seasons; reliable transportation is required.
