Court Reporter Benefits & Incentives

Hiring Incentive– Newly hired full-time court reporters may receive a sign-on incentive of up to $6,000.

Release Time– Up to 5 hours per week of paid release time for official court reporter business.

Realtime Certification Pay– Earn an additional 6% salary differential with National Realtime Court Reporter (NCRA) certification.

Realtime / CART Services Differential– Extra pay when assigned to Realtime Captioning or CART services.

Annual Expense Reimbursement– Up to $1,000 per fiscal year for approved, job-related expenses.

CSR License Fee Reimbursement– Reimbursement of Certified Shorthand Reporter (CSR) annual license fees, up to$500 per fiscal year.

Referral Bonus– Employees who refer a successful court reporter candidate may earn a$1,000 finder’s fee.
DEFINITION
Under general supervision, the court reporter records and transcribes verbatim stenographic accounts of official court proceedings.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
- Supervision is provided by the Courtroom Services Manager, or designee, and schedule coordination is provided by the Court Reporter Real Time Coordinator.

1. Take and transcribe verbatim minutes of all Court proceedings as required.
2. Reads back all or portions of the official court proceedings upon instruction from the judge
3. Identify speakers properly, and note the introduction of exhibits or evidence
4. Prepare transcriptions in proper legal form
5. Meet court-fixed deadlines for transcriptions
6. Report proceedings, which may include: criminal, conservatorship, mental competency hearings, civil and criminal contempt, juvenile, civil 232, family laws, civil jury trials, petitions for extraordinary relief, injunctions, and writs (i.e. of mandated, prohibition and habeas corpus)
7. Attend staff and other work-related meetings, workshops, seminars, and other continuing education opportunities
8. Serve as a representative of the Court, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with other members of the Court community and with the public
