POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Facilities Operations performs building repairs and maintenance work and carpentry maintenance on all campus buildings.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform minor repairs and/or replacement of plumbing fixtures, valves, and other devices as required.

Perform minor repairs and/or replacement of electrical fixtures, devices, and appliances as required.

Perform minor carpentry work as required to repair windows, doors and furniture.

Prepare materials list for work orders, estimating time required for jobs.

Hangs sheetrock/wallboard and applies tape and spackling compound to achieve a finished paintable surface.

Hangs doors.
-
Replace damaged ceiling tiles and floor tiles.
-
Performs concrete and masonry repairs.
-
Assists in the moving of furniture and with event set-ups.

Serves on University committees as requested.

Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Routine assignments are performed independently following University and departmental policies and procedures.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Works independently using own judgmen
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS:

Able to communicate both orally and in writing

Valid Florida Driver’s License

Three years of experience in the building maintenance field

Must be familiar with the building maintenance trades.

Ability to operate power saws, drills, grinders, sanders and other power hand tools connected with the maintenance and carpentry trade.

May be required to lift, push or pull up to 70 lbs.

May be exposed to chemicals, mechanical or electrical hazard. May be exposed to dust, fumes or odoriferous working conditions.

May be required to work outdoors in inclement weather.

Employees are required to wear protective clothing or devices.
