Cabinet Designer / Cabinet Vision Specialist
Remote Contractor | Project-Based | Work From Anywhere in the U.S.
Since 1947, B&J Custom Cabinets has been designing, building, and installing custom cabinetry throughout Southern California — kitchens, bathrooms, built-ins, home offices, closets, and specialty projects for homeowners who value craftsmanship and quality.
We're looking for an experienced independent contractor who can take field measurements, sketches, and project requirements and turn them into complete, production-ready manufacturing drawings. This is a long-term contractor relationship, not a staff position — flexible, project-based, and fully remote.
Responsibilities
- Review field measurements, sketches, photos, and project requirements
- Create production-ready cabinet and shop drawings
- Generate manufacturing documents, cut lists, and CNC-ready output where applicable
- Identify design conflicts or construction issues before production begins
- Communicate with our team to clarify design intent and deliverables
- Deliver accurate, organized project files on agreed schedules
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience designing custom cabinetry in Cabinet Vision and/or Mosaic
- Strong understanding of cabinet construction methods and manufacturing processes
- Ability to produce complete drawings ready for shop production
- Working knowledge of fillers, appliance clearances, overlays, hardware requirements, and crown details
- Self-motivated, organized, and reliable with deadlines
Preferred
- Cabinet Vision proficiency (strongly preferred); Mozaik experience also a plus
- Experience supporting custom cabinet shops or millwork operations
- Familiarity with CNC output and material optimization
Compensation Negotiated per project, structured by room, project, or scope. Rates are agreed upon before work begins.

Beyond software proficiency, we want someone who thinks like a cabinet maker — someone who anticipates manufacturing challenges and produces drawings that help our shop build efficiently and accurately. Portfolio quality and production-ready samples will carry more weight than resumes alone.
